The Town of Farmington's Strategic Implementation Plan incorporates the results of a January 2005 telephone survey of Farmington residents conducted by the University of Connecticut Center for Research and Analysis. This survey also incorporates 11 meetings of various citizen and business groups where SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) sessions were conducted.
The Strategic Implementation Plan is broken down into five goals, Goal 1 (Education), Goal 2 (Traffic and Land Use), Goal 3 (Economic Development), Goal 4 (Budget), and Goal 5 (Best Practices in Government).
On February 14, 2006 the Farmington Town Council appointed its first of the five sub-committees to begin the process of implementation of the deliverables of each of the outcomes of the goal.
Between February 2006 and August 2007 the Farmington Town Council approved the implementation plan of Goals 1, 2, 3, and 5, and appointed its final sub-committee Goal 4 on July 10, 2007. On August 14, 2007 the Farmington Town Council approved the Town of Farmington Strategic Implementation Plan. As you will see, this Plan provides a roadmap for the Town of Farmington's future and is not a static document.
