Free Textile Recycling Program

Post Date:04/08/2025 1:40 PM

The Town of Farmington's Green Efforts Committee is pleased to announce the launch of a new, environmentally-friendly initiative in partnership with Helpsy, a free textile recycling program available to all residents starting this April.

As a clothing collection company and a certified B corporation with an environmental mission to extend the useful life of clothing, Helpsy partners with municipalities and organizations across 10 states to collect unwanted clothing.  Helpsy operates 1,200 clothing collection points and provides free curbside service to millions of Americans. The company funds numerous charities and thrift stores to give consumers convenient and compelling alternatives to the landfill. Currently they collect an item of clothing every second.

Farmington residents can schedule free pickups directly through the Helpsy website. Items accepted include used clothing, paired shoes, bags, towels, and more. All collected textiles are sorted for reuse, recycling, or repurposing, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

This initiative reflects Farmington’s continued commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By participating, residents not only help protect the environment but also support local green jobs and charitable donations.
