John McManama Nature Trail is a 0.9 mile loop hike through 40 acres of rolling glacial terrain next to West District School. It was created in 1982 in honor of John McManama, principal of the West District School.  Trailhead Location

Nancy Conklin Trail is a level 1.3 mile loop off Meadow Road to the location where the Farmington River turns to the north. The trail follows along the Pequabuck and Farmington Rivers. The Farmington Land Trust does a great job managing this property. Trailhead Location

Shade Swamp Sanctuary White Trail has several trail options from 1.8 - 2.1 miles of mostly level trails. The trails are in good shape because they are in a mature forest and are regularly used. Its 800 acres are owned by the State of Connecticut. Trailhead Location

Farmington Reservoir Trails. There is a 0.5 mile level walk along the dam. There is also a moderately steep 1.0 mile out-and back hike up Farmington Mountain to Reservoir Rock. After the leaves are gone it has good views to the west. Trailhead Location

Hill-Stead Museum Trails -  The Museum has 2.4 miles of hiking on 6 different trails. They have a pond, meadows, low bush, and forest habitat which makes it great for animal watching. The trails are opened daily from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. They provide trail maps and information at the kiosk next to the trail head parking. Trailhead Location

Farmington Memorial Town Forest- Blue & White Trails. The Blue Trail offers a 2.4 mile out-and-back hike from rt. 177. You can add the 0.8 mile White Trail half loop on your return to create a 3.0 mile level hike. Another option is adding the Memorial Loop (orange blazed) trail to the Lt. Vincent H. Core Memorial. Taine Mountain Trails. are a series of loop hikes with three different routes ranging from 1.2 - 2.5 miles. They are short in miles, but provide a vertical climb of over 1000 feet.  Trailhead Location
