Please Note:
A Notary Public is not trained or authorized to assist individuals in the execution of wills.
The Town Clerk’s Office provides notary services for most documents, with the following exceptions:

We are unable to notarize the following:
- Wills or “end of life’ documents: Living Wills, Trust, Durable power of attorney, Beneficiary designations, Letter of intent, Healthcare power of attorney, Guardianship designations
- Real estate transactions: Mortgages, Loans, Housing refinance documents, Deeds
- USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- Prenuptial agreements
- Vital records (birth, marriage, and death certificates)
- Tax returns
- Military records
- Judicial Decrees
- Petitions
- Documents to be filed on the Farmington land records

Notary Services
Notary Public services are available at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours.
- Free for Farmington residents
- $5.00 fee for non-residents
Individuals must appear in person with the complete, unsigned document. Documents must be signed in the presence of the Notary.
Two forms of identification are required:
- One must be a valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
- The second must include the individual’s signature

Filing Your Notary Certificate
Notaries who reside in Farmington must file their certificate with the Farmington Town Clerk’s Office. The filing fee is $20.00. Both new and renewal certificates must be submitted in person, and valid identification is required.
Notaries who work in Farmington (but do not reside there) may file the second page of their certificate under the same in-person and identification requirements.
