Charge of the Committee

To appoint the following Fire Station Building Committee members with the following voting members,

Brenda Bergeron, Chair (Resident) – Fire District East Farms
Ted Sanford, Resident – Fire District Farmington
Tim Perra, Resident – Fire District Tunxis Hose
Dave Wlodkowski, Town Council Member
Mike Grabulis, Chief - Farmington Volunteer Fire Department
Dave Czlapinski, Chief - East Farmington Volunteer Fire Department
Travis Cromack, Chief - Tunxis Hose Volunteer Fire Department

And the following non-voting members,

Kathleen Blonski, Town Manager
Kat Krajewski, Assistant Town Manager
Paul Melanson, Director of Public Safety
Mason Coudriet, Project Superintendent
Devon Aldave, Clerk of the Committee

And,

The Town Council recognizes that the Ad Hoc Fire Station Committee spent more than a year reviewing fire station studies, evaluating current facility conditions and locations, and developing a comprehensive financial forecast. This work enabled the Committee to make a recommendation to the Town Council regarding the scope of the project and proposed budget. Accordingly, the charge of the Fire Station Building Committee reflects this prior analysis and the charge will focus on advancing the proposed project rather than repeating the preliminary evaluation process.

And,

To approve the following Charge of the Fire Station Building Committee.

  1. The Committee shall review the Statement of Needs and budget range created by the Ad Hoc Fire Station Committee.

  2. Engage an architect to complete a schematic design and a third-party cost estimator to provide preliminary pricing for:
    1. New East Farms Fire Station on the current site
    2. Renovated Farmington Fire Station with the Construction of an Addition
    3. New Tunxis Hose Fire Station on current site

  3. The Committee shall present the schematic design and preliminary pricing to the Town Council for approval.

  4. The Town Council shall complete all necessary steps required to bring the project to referendum in accordance with Section 53 of the Farmington Town Code.
  5. If the project is approved at referendum, the Committee shall complete final plan development and construction in accordance with Section 53 of the Farmington Town Code.
